By the Grace of G-d18th of Cheshvan, 5724Brooklyn, N.Y.
Mr. T. P.
London N.16, England
Greeting and Blessing:
I received your letter of the 6th of Marcheshvan in which you write that your Davening as Shliach Tzibbur, as well as Baal Tokea, was pleasing to the congregation and, let us hope, accepted together with the prayers of every one of our people.
You ask if you should take up the position of Chazanuth - without impairing your present business. Generally speaking, it seems advisable. In this connection, I trust that it is unnecessary to emphasize to you the custom of a Shliach Tzibbur to review, from time to time, the meaning of the prayers. For, although this should be done by everyone, it is especially important for a Shliach Tzibbur.
With regard to the partnership about which you write, you ought to consult with local friends who have some knowledge of this field, and also who know both you and your proposed partner, with a view to ascertaining how compatible you are. Whatever your decision, may G-d grant it be successful. I note that you have exchanged contracts in the purchase of a house. May G-d grant that this be finalized in a happy and auspicious hour, and that it be a truly Jewish and happy home, materially and spiritually.
As requested, I will remember you and the members of your family in prayer, in accordance with your letter.
As we are now coming from the month of Tishrei, the month which is filled with G-d’s blessings, materially and spiritually, and the month which is the source of blessings for the whole year, may it be so with you and your family.
With blessing
M. Schneerson
