By the Grace of G-d25 Elul, 5736Brooklyn, N.Y.
The Honorable Sir Joshua A. Hassan, CBE, MVO, Q. C., J. P.
Office of the Chief Minister
Gibraltar
Greeting and Blessing:
I was pleased to receive your regards, especially these auspicious days, and to hear about your public activities for the benefit of the people of Gibraltar, including the Jewish community.
There is surely no need to point out that the wellbeing of an organism is bound up with the wellbeing of its constituent parts, and that a benefit to any part of it is a benefit to the whole. Hence, a wholesome and vigorous Jewish community, thriving on Torah and Mitzvos and full spiritual development, is of great benefit to the entire society in which it flourishes, especially as it promotes and strengthens the moral and ethical values of the so-called Seven Laws (with all their ramifications) given to the descendants of Noah, which are the basis of every human society.
May G-d grant you the health and strength to continue your public service with increasing success.
At this time before Rosh Hashanah, I extend to you and yours prayerful wishes for a good and sweet year.
With esteem and blessing,
