Sholom uBrocho:
After the long interval, I received your letter, in which you write about the events in the past few months, since your previous letter.
May G-d grant that all the matters about which you write should be resolved in the way that is truly good for you and your family, materially and spiritually.
We are now only a few days from the 10th of Shevat, the Yahrzeit-Hilulo of my father- in-law of saintly memory. And like a faithful shepherd, he is continually interceding in behalf of every Jew in need of G-d's help. May his merits stand you and all of us in good stead.
With blessing
By Nissan Mindel
P.S.
In reply to your request for my opinion relating to the offer of a position in Australia the answer was already given [to] you over the telephone, namely: If it is an orthodox cong., and you will be able to carry out your functions in an orthodox manner, and if your wife agrees to go to Australia, and if you could leave your present position without creating ill-feeling then you should take an interest in the offer. Perhaps it is advisable, in that case, also to send them a photograph of yourself, to avoid surprises later.
If for some reason the Australian proposition does not materialize, and the question remains whether you should give up your present position, I think your wife is right that you should remain for at least one more year after the end of the first. Obviously, it does not create a good impression to change positions frequently. Moreover, you may have an obligation to your present community not to leave at the first opportunity. A further essential reason is the fact that, as you write, you have already been able to influence several members of the community. The knowledge that you have almost two years to be with it, will surely encourage you to act more energetically and confidently.
My offer to cover the costs still stands, of course. I will be glad to receive the good news that it has been received and used.
The enclosures you sent are returned herewith.
Rabbi Hodakov conveyed to me your request for a blessing when you spoke to him over the 'phone. I will remember you at the holy resting place accordingly.
