By the Grace of G-d24th of Tammuz, 5742Brooklyn, N.Y.
Blessing and Greeting:
I am in receipt of your letter, postmarked July 6th, in which you write about your recent acquaintance with a non-Jew, and that you are at a point where you "can go either way," as you write.
It is surprising that you should have any question as to what way to go, since you surely must know that for a Jew to marry a non-Jew is a terrible disaster for both parties, even from the viewpoint of basic human considerations. Certainly, from the spiritual viewpoint, according to the teaching of our Torah, Toras Chaim and Toras Emes - for the Torah is the Jew's true guide in life - such a step would be even more disastrous, and again for both parties concerned.
In view of the above, I am certain that you will go in the right way, the way of the Torah which has been shown by G-d, Who is the Essence of Goodness and the Source of all blessings, and will put an end to this unwholesome relationship and involvement, G-d forbid.
May G-d grant that you should continue along this G-d-given way, and go from strength to strength to deepen your Jewish commitment to the way of the Torah and Mitzvoth in the everyday life.
With blessing,
M. Schneerson
P.S. In view of the importance and urgency of this matter, the letter is sent to you via special delivery.
