A similar letter was sent to several individuals.
Charles Harold Jordan (5668–5727) was a leading Jewish humanitarian and a longtime executive of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC). He joined the JDC in 5701 (1941) as Director for the Caribbean, based in Havana, where he played a key role in rescuing Jewish refugees from Europe. He later served as head of JDC’s Emigration Department in Paris, facilitating the relocation and resettlement of displaced Jews. Following the passing of Moses Beckelman in 5716 (see letter dated 13 Nissan, 5711), Jordan was appointed Director-General for Overseas Services. After the death of Moses A. Leavitt in 5725 (1965) (see letter dated 24 Sivan, 5725), Jordan became Executive Vice-Chairman of the JDC. He held that position until his unsolved murder in 5727.

2) Shortly thereafter, Jordan replied in a letter dated September 18, 1956:
Dear Rabbi Schneerson:
It is with deep appreciation that I acknowledge receipt of your letter with its good wishes for a happy year.
May I take this occasion to convey to you and your staff from my staff and myself, best wishes for a year of health and happiness, and one which will hopefully bring peace to all.
Cordially yours,
Charles H. Jordon
