By the Grace of G-d Lag b'Omer, 5745 Brooklyn, N. Y.
To All Participants in the
Annual Dinner of Oholei Torah
G-d bless you all!
Greeting and Blessing:
It is significant that this year's Annual Dinner Event is taking place on the first day of the weekly Sedra b’Ha'alos'cho es Haneiros, beginning with the commandment to light the lamps of the Menorah in the Beis Hamikdash.
Of course, the physical aspect of this Divine commandment, namely, the actual lighting of the Menorah in the Beis Hamikdash, does not apply at this time, when we have no Beis Hamikdash. However, spiritually, and in essence, we can implement this Mitzvo also now and here. For the spiritual Beis Hamikdash - the sanctuary that is within the heart of every Jew, wherein HaShem desires to dwell, as He indicated: "Let them make Me a sanctuary, and I will dwell among (and within) them" - this inner sanctuary has never been, and can never be, destroyed.
Thus, here and now, we fulfill this Divine commandment of "lighting the lamps in the Beis Hamikdash," by keeping the light of Torah and Mitzvoth shining ever brighter in our personal everyday life, as well as in our homes and in our surroundings.
HaShem further promises us: "You keep My lamp (the light of Torah and Mitzvoth) shining brightly, and I will keep your lamp (the soul) shining brightly," for "the soul of man is the lamp of HaShem.” This mutual covenant goes into effect immediately a Jewish child is born. This is why Torah Chinuch is so vital in Jewish life. This is why Oholei Torah is such a vital institution that merits your most generous support. The Annual Dinner Event is the time and the occasion to give expression to your fullest support to Oholei Torah.
I extend prayerful wishes to the honorees, and to each and all of you and yours for Hatzlocho in all above, and for a growing measure of brightness also in your personal affairs, both materially and spiritually.
With esteem and blessing,
/Signed: Menachem Schneerson/
