By the Grace of G-d Rosh Chodesh Sivan, 5738 Brooklyn, N. Y.
1 Square Charles Michels,
38000 Grenoble, France
Greeting and Blessing:
I duly received your letter, and will remember you in prayer for the fulfilment of your heart’s desires for good.
I trust it is unnecessary to emphasize to you at length that the daily life and conduct in accordance with G-d's Will, as set forth in the Shulchan Aruch - in addition to the essential thing of it being a "must" for its own sake - is the channel to receive G-d's blessings in all personal needs. Therefore, every additional effort in this direction is bound to widen the channels to receive G-d's blessings.
Even if there was a time in the past when, for whatever reason, your daily life was not as it should have been in the fullest measure, or even if you still find some difficulty in this connection, surely you can well understand that every person, and a Jew in particular, has been given the capacity and strength to "turn over a new leaf," and make a fresh start in the right direction. Basically, it is a matter of one's own will and determination.
As for your mentioning the idea that before getting more deeply involved in Torah it may be necessary first to resolve various problems - - obviously, considering that the Torah was given by the Creator and Master of the world, who is the source of all blessings, and who has made the Torah and Mitzvos the channels through which to receive His blessings, the reverse is true, for precisely when there are problems a greater commitment to Torah and Mitzvos is indicated, as mentioned above, since G-d's blessings are needed to resolve the problems.
This would be a good time to have your Tefillin and Mezuzos checked to make sure they are kosher.
With blessing for Hatzlocho in all above and the traditional blessing with the approach of the Festival of Mattan Torah - to receive the Torah with joy and inwardness.
M. Schneerson
