By the Grace of G-dErev Shabbos Kodesh Mevorchim Nissan 5732Brooklyn, N. Y.
To the participants in the
30th Annual Dinner of the Netzivei
Yeshiva Tomchei Tmimim Lubavitch
Greeting and Blessing:
In these days linking the months of Adar and Nissan, we are inspired by the central theme which is mutual to both these months, namely, Geulo (deliverance), the Geulo of Purim and the Geulo of Pesach.
One of the main features that characterizes both these Geulos is the role of Chinuch — Torah-true education of Jewish children.
Also the Geulo of Pesach was related to Jewish children, at whom, in particular, Pharaoh aimed his decree to throw every newborn son into the river. However, thanks to the selfless efforts of Jewish mothers, a new generation was raised who were first to recognize G-d, exclaiming, “This is my G-d!" If in those days, when Jewish education was fraught with the gravest perils, Jewish leaders and parents were prepared to give their lives for Torah-true education, knowing full well that the existence of the Jewish people depended on it — how much more readily should we work for it, seeing that we live in circumstances which do not require a Jew to risk his life for it, but only a determination and willingness to give some of his time, effort, and money to this cause. How eager and fortunate one should feel that with relatively little so much can be accomplished!
An essential thing is that, the Chinuch should be in the spirit of Purim and Pesach — Torah-true education in the maximum, so that the young generation should be able to declare with the utmost conviction: This is my G-d, and This is the Torah, and These are the statutes and Mitzvos, and, moreover, should influence and inspire also those who had not yet come up to their level.
This is the kind of Chinuch which the Lubavitcher Yeshiva in Montreal gives its students. It surely deserves the fullest support of all Torah friends, which should not only deliver it from the burden of debt, but enable it to carry on its sacred work in affluence, for the honor and glory of Torah.
I congratulate all participants in the Dinner, especially the honored Netzivim and co-workers, and hope and trust that each and everyone, man and woman, will do their utmost to help make the event a most successful one in every respect.
With esteem and blessing for Hatzlocho
and good tidings,
/Signed/ Menachem Schneerson
