By the Grace of G-d 12th of Iyar, 5730Brooklyn, N. Y.

New York, N.Y. 10027
Greeting and Blessing:
I am in receipt of your letter of May 11th with the enclosures, as well as your previous correspondence, in which you write about the offers from Eretz Yisroel.
Generally speaking, it seems to me that it would be advisable to accept the most suitable offer among them, on condition, however, that it would not affect your status here at Columbia, etc. Consequently, it is primarily a matter of timing, that is to say, to accept a visiting position in Eretz Yisroel at such a time when it would not be in conflict with your position and duties here.
I am, of course, in agreement with your opinion that the offer from the Hebrew University is a better one than that from the Technion.
I was particularly gratified to note in your letter that you could arrange to divide your time so as to be able to engage in mathematics proper, and not only in mathematical education.
May G-d grant that whatever your decision, it should be in a happy and auspicious hour, with the utmost Hatzlocho.
With blessing,
M. Schneerson
