On occasion of Lag Bomer I send greetings to Jewish Children everywhere especially participants in Lag Bomer Parades and celebrations.
Lag Bomer recalls Rabbi Akiva and disciples. Despite late start Rabbi Akiva's dedication and diligence to Torah study were eminently rewarded in fulfillment of promise of our sages TRY HARD AND YOU WILL SUCCEED. He became greatest torah scholar and sage of his generation finally giving his very life for Torah Umitzvos. Some of his disciples failed to heed properly his teaching2 that V'OHAVTO L'REACHO KOMOICHO is a great principle of Torah and for lack of respect to each other suffered disastrous consequences which happily terminated on Lag Bomer.
Thug Lag Boner emphasizes vital need for Jewish children to follow resolutely in Rabbi Akiva's and his disciple's Rashbi's footsteps to learn and spread Torah Umitzvoth diligently with love and mutual respect.
