Greeting and Blessing:
I was pleased to receive your letter enclosing a donation, to which you have all jointly contributed. It is gratifying to note that you are conscious of the needs of those who are less fortunate than you, and are helping them in a practical way. The Mitzvah of Tzedoko is, of course, one of the greatest, and it will surely stand each and every one of you in good stead to be blessed of G-d, materially and spiritually.
Now that the summer has started, I hope that you realize that there can be no interruption or vacation in all matters of Torah and Mitzvoth. On the contrary, when Jewish children are free from distraction of secular studies and other school work, it gives them an opportunity to devote more time to the study of the Torah and the observance of the Mitzvoth. I hope you will take the fullest advantage of this opportunity, both for your own benefit, as well as to be a good influence on others.
Wishing you a healthy and successful summer in body as well as soul,
With blessing,
By Nissan Mindel
Notes and sources
This letter was sent to ten seventh-grade students at Yeshivas Achei Temimim of the Bronx, in response to a donation they sent to the Rebbe after undertaking a resolution to give tzedakah at a class siyum.
