By the Grace of G-d
[Moses I.] Feuerstein
Greeting and Blessing:
I acknowledge receipt of your letter of March 21st. In reply to your request for any suggestions, I wish to offer the following remarks.
The Coordinating Committee must consider two contingencies which may result from the pressure which it has been able to exercise so far and which it hopes to maintain; such contingencies being the courses open to the so-called opposing forces in the face of this pressure:
A. Further protraction of the problem with a view to a) using the interval to indoctrinate an additional number of children in the transit camps and/or get additional numbers of children into their housing projects; b) in the hope that pressure of the C.C. would slacken en toto or at least partially; c) enabling the UJA to carry on its own campaign in the meantime with the cooperation of those who are at present with the C.C. and d) generally hoping that time would be on their side somehow.
B. To concede to the demands of the C.C. wholly or partially — in which case the C.C would be confronted with a situation which has already received our attention, namely a) the lack of an apparatus or machinery to take over the children, at least those who are in the transit camps waiting for housing and b) the lack of madrichim (instructors) for their education.
In the light of the above, it would seem that the C.C. should first of all bend its efforts towards maintaining its pressure with the upmost tenacity, keeping alive the urgency of the cause in the minds of those whom it had already succeeded to convince of the righteousness of the cause, warning them against delusion by any promised concessions, until such concessions are actually carried into effect; and continue to bring its fullest influence to bear upon the opposition until a positive solution — the allocation of adequate funds for housing - has been reached and carried into practice.
Secondly, to take steps to carry into effect the plans and preparations for establishing the necessary machinery and the mobilization of madrichim, so that the apparatus could be set in motion without loss of time when the appropriate moment has arrived.
I trust that you, as Chairman of the C.C., together with our devoted and active friend Mr. Samuel Kramer and the relentless friend Dr. Griffel and indeed with the cooperation of all members and friends of the C.C., will keep up the initiative until the problem will be properly solved, with G-d’s help.
With kindest and personal regards and best wishes for a kosher and joyful Pesach.
Very sincerely yours,
