By the Grace of G-d12th of Marcheshvan, 5718Brooklyn, N. Y.
26 Linthorpe Road
London N. 16, England
Greeting and Blessing:
I received your letter of the 26th of Tishrei, in which you write about your work as Secretary of Yesodei Hatorah. May G-d grant you success in your work, and that you have good news to report about this, as well as about a general improvement in Parnosso.
You refer to my advice to you some time ago against taking a position involving public work. Needless to say, that times and conditions change, and, inasmuch as there is a temporary slackness in business at this time, it was a good thing to take this position. I trust that you are using your free time to develop your own business, and may that be with success too.
With regard to . . . I note from his letter to me that he is going to learn in Gateshead, which will, I hope, be a good thing for him, inasmuch as he will also be in proximity to his sister there, and, at the same time you will continue to take an active interest in his affairs. It is not advisable to think of his coming to America at this time, because it is a step which involves many difficulties and expenses, and this should only be considered as a last resort. No doubt you will make sure that . . . will not be aware of your feeling of pessimism, and, in any case, I trust that things will be much better than you anticipate.
With regard to the acquaintance of. . . with an orthodox girl, and the possibility of a Shidduch, in view of the fact that the marriage will be delayed for some time, it would be advisable that in the meantime they should not live in the same city.
I hope to receive good news from you in all your affairs, both private and public.
With blessing,
M. Schneerson
