P.S. It is, indeed, a timely message (on Tzedoko) that you sent out in behalf of Congregation Levi Yitzchok. For, if Tzedoko is timely all through the year, how much more so at this time, in preparation for the entire New Year. This is also emphasized during these days of Selichos, for, after the introductory prayer of Ashrei, the Selichos begin with the words "Lecho HaShem HaTzedoko."1 All the more so that Tzedoko, in this instance, is connected with the expansion of the activities of the Beis Knesses and Beis Medrash, making it a benefit to many.
I am pleased to enclose my symbolic participation in the amount of twice "Chai."
P.P.S. Although this comes at the end, it is, of course, most important, namely that, as I fervently trust, G-d's blessings that were given to you for the past year included also the satisfactory resolution of the problems you wrote about, to all concerned, G-d bless you with long and happy days and years, in good health and pleasant circumstances.
P.P.S.
Just received all the fruits, and many thanks for your kind attention etc.2
Notes and sources
Dr. Moshe Mordechai (Marvin) Shuster and Mrs. Chana (Susan) Shuster were early Chabad supporters and communal activists in Hollywood–Hallandale, Florida. Coming from a largely secular background, they became closely connected with Chabad through their encounter with Rabbi Sholom Lipskar. Inspired by the Rebbe’s guidance, they transformed their home into a center of Jewish life, hosting Shabbos minyanim and outreach activities, and eventually established a synagogue Congregation Levi Yitzchok, named with the Rebbe’s approval. (See also interview with Mrs. Shuster in JEM—Here's My Story, Lech Lecha 5777.) For additional letters addressed to Dr. and Mrs. Shuster, see letter dated 15 Av, 5735, and as reference there.
1) Daniel 9:7.
2) Dr. Shuster had a private orchard in which he would grow exotic fruit. Baskets of these fruit he would periodically send to the Rebbe. See also the Rebbe's remarks to Shuster during his encounter with the Rebbe at Sunday dollars on 14 Iyar, 5751.
