By the Grace of G-d24th of Iyar, 5729Brooklyn, N. Y.
Mr. Tuvia Litzman
Rechov Pinkas 16
Quiryat Ono
Greeting and Blessing:
I received your letter, in which you write about your background, etc.
May G-d grant that the problems about which you write should be resolved in a way that is truly good for you, and "good" for a Jew means that everything conforms to the Torah, Toras Chaim, which is called "Lekach Tov."1
Moreover, through the fullest adherence to the Torah and Mitzvoth, though a must for its own sake, a Jew receives also all the good in the physical and material world, as the Torah plainly emphasizes in the Sedra Bechukosai which we have just read: "If you will walk in My statues, and will observe My commandments and do them, then I will give your rains in their due season," etc. We have been assured that nothing stands in the way of the will.
I suggest that you have your Tefillin checked to make sure they are Kosher, and you should be meticulous in putting them on every weekday morning. I trust also that you are careful to observe the daily quota of Tehillim as it is divided according to the days of the month.
With blessing,
By Nissan Mindel
P.S. In the light of the above, you will also understand my opinion in regard to your question whether you should return to Sweden for a few years, or remain in the Holy Land.
My opinion is that if on returning to Sweden you will engage in activities to spread Yiddishkeit, especially among Jewish youth, and bring them closer to the study of Torah and the observance of the Mitzvoth, with due emphasis on the observance of the Mitzvoth in the daily life, since the essential thing is the deed — then you should return there in order to carry out this sacred and most important Shlichus.
