By the Grace of G-d2nd of Kislev, 5724Brooklyn, N. Y.
Dr. R. M. Richter
1212 - 5th Ave.
New York City
Greeting and Blessing:
I duly received the telephone message about the mishap to your finger, and I was subsequently pleased to learn that it completely healed up, and that you returned to your duties. May G-d grant that you should be successful in your work to bring relief and healing to your patients, and that, at the same time, you should exercise your good influence to bring a healing also to their souls, especially as with the Jew the physical and spiritual welfare are closely linked together.
I will remember, in prayer, your daughters, and may G-d grant that you and your wife should bring them up to a life of Torah, Chuppah and good deeds, in good health and true happiness.
With blessing
M. Schneerson
Notes and sources
Dr. Robert Richter held various positions in New York hospitals, including nearly twenty years as an academic surgeon at Brooklyn Jewish Hospital. Raised in a non-Orthodox home, he was introduced to Chabad in 1954 when he became engaged to his wife, Glicka (Gladys) Lieberman, the granddaughter of Rabbi Menachem Mendel Cunin, a prominent Chabad chossid. Dr. Richter later served as one of the doctors who treated the Rebbe following a heart attack on Shmini Atzeres, 5738.
