B.H.14th of Kislev, 5723 Brooklyn, N.Y.
Mr.
Amsterdam.
Sholom uBrocho:
I received your letters and clippings with thanks, and trust that you will continue to do so in the future. These days - the 10th and 19th of Kislev, and Cahnukah - will surely see an intensified activity which I hope will be reflected also in news items in the press.
I grouped Chanukah with the Chassidic festivals, for although Chanukah is not a specifically Chassidic festival it also has Chassidic interpretations. One of them is the significance of oil in the miracle of Chanukah. The Torah is likened to water, wine and oil. Water (and bread) symbolizes Nigleh of Torah; wine and oil symbolize Nistar of Torah, as explained at length in the teachings of Chassidus.
May G-d grant you success in the “dissemination of the fountains," and of Yud-Tes Kislev in particular, in good health and with joy and gladness of heart.
With blessing
M. Schneerson
