It was very kind and thoughtful of the Council to pass the congratulatory resolution, sponsored by Hon. Councilman Marrin Braude and seconded by Hon. Councilman Joel Wachs, on the occasion of our 25th Anniversary.
Your kind tribute and warm sentiments are all the more meaningful in view of the fact that our movement, under the directorship of Rabbi Shlomo Cunin, who headed a West Coast Delegation to our celebration, has found such fertile soil in your city.
As you know, our movement is rendering dedicated service in L.A. and its environs, particularly in the area of education and youth activity, so vital in the present day and age.

In honor of Yud Shevat 5735, marking the 25th anniversary of the Rebbe's leadership, political figures and leaders across the United States, including the President and Congress, conveyed letters to the Rebbe and issued resolutions and proclamations honoring the Rebbe and the Lubavitch movement. Many of these officials or their representatives attended the Rebbe's Yud Shevat Farbrengen, where, in between Sichos, they had the privilege of personally presenting their gifts and proclamations to the Rebbe.
A significant delegation from the State of California journeyed to New York to participate in the Farbrengen. Following Yud Shevat the Rebbe wrote letters to the six represented Californian politicians, acknowledging their well-wishes, proclamations, and gifts (see letters dated 15 Shevat c-h)
The abovementioned resolution was presented to the Rebbe by Rabbi Shmuel Dovid Raichik.
