By the Grace of G-d 7th of Tammuz, 5715 Brooklyn, N.Y.
Mrs. Sarah Esther Feigelstock
905 Clark Street
Montreal, Que.
Blessing and Greeting:
After the long interval, I was pleased to receive your letter of 18th of Sivan, in which you report on the activities of the Mesibos Shabbos in recent months. I trust that you will continue to report on these activities, though at shorter Intervals.
It is surely unnecessary to call your attention to the need of making the proper plans for activity during the summer months. Though many children may be away in camps, making it more difficult to keep contact with them, others, on the other hand, have more time on their hands and are within easier reach, being free from school. The Mesibos Shabbos and Agudas Nshei Chabad should therefore make suitable plans for the utmost possible activity during the summer months, and time is of the essence.
With prayerful wishes for success in your work,
With blessing,
Nissan Mindel
Notes and sources
Mrs. Sara Esther Feigelstock (5691–5777) was born in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, to Polish Jewish immigrant parents. At the age of ten, she and her family had a private audience with the Rebbe Rayatz, beginning a frequent correspondence through which she received his encouragement and guidance. Even then, she was already organizing Mesibos Shabbos gatherings in her hometown and reporting her activities to the Rebbe Rayatz, from whom she merited to receive detailed and encouraging replies. Determined to secure a proper Jewish education, she moved alone to New York at the age of twelve to study at Beis Yaakov in Williamsburg. She later married Rabbi Herschel Feigelstock, then a teacher at the Chabad Yeshiva in Montreal, with the wedding officiated by the Rebbe. After settling in Montreal, she taught at the Chabad school and reestablished her Mesibos Shabbos program—first in her home, then in the yeshiva basement—ultimately training participants to lead similar groups in synagogues across the city.
