Mr. Alexander Cowen
250 W. 104th St.
New York City
Dear Mr. Cowen:
Our Sages say (B.K. 92b) 'The wine belongs to the owner, the credit to the butler', that is to say, the one who brings about a good thing deserves the credit.
I refer, of course, to the establishment of the Stulman Foundation1 which you have been instrumental in bringing about. The importance of mediation in a good cause may be judged from the words of our sages that Moses attained the highest plane as reward for his acting as mediator between G-d and Israel in the matter of the Giving of the Torah.
Now that the S.F. is a reality, I want to extend to you, in behalf of the M.L.Ch. and in my own name, our grateful appreciation for all you have done to bring it about. It is my sincere hope that the S.F. will grow and flourish, and I am sure that the good work of the M.L.Ch. in all fields of education which the S.F. will help to further will be a source of great satisfaction to you, and your greatest reward for your noble efforts.
With kindest personal regards and all good wishes,
Very sincerely yours,
Rabbi Mendel Schneerson
Chairman, Executive Committee
