Blessing and Greeting:

I received your correspondence and may G-d grant that you should have good news to report in all the matters about which you write.

In addition to the enclosed general Chanukah message,¹ I want to emphasize here the special significance of Chanukah for Jewish womanhood. Our Sages of blessed memory make a point of the fact that “women” too had a share in the miracle of Chanukah² and indeed, a major share. For this reason women are also obligated to observe the mitzvah of ner Chanukah (though the father or husband usually lights the Chanukah Lights for them also).

Thus, the things we learn from the Chanukah Lights relate also to the women, with additional emphasis on the special zechus and responsibility of the woman as the Akeres Habayis, whose influence is most important in regard to the whole conduct of the household and all the members of the family. Which means that G-d has endowed them with special powers to fulfill their responsibilities in the best possible way.

May G-d grant that you should have the utmost hatzlocho in all that has been indicated above and in a steadily growing measure, in accordance with the message of the Chanukah Lights which are kindled in growing strength from day to day.
