By the Grace of G-d 2nd of Elul, 5744 Brooklyn, N. Y.
Mr. . . .
Yeshiva Tomchei Tmimim
Kfar Chabad
Greeting and Blessing:
I received your letter of Erev Rosh Chodesh Elul, and may G-d grant that you should have good news to report.
In general, in matters of health, there is a clear directive in the Torah ורפא ירפא, authorizing and empowering a human physician to bring relief and cure.1 Therefore, it would be advisable for you to consult with a doctor-friend and follow his advice.
At the same time, it is necessary to bear in mind that HaShem is the Source of all blessings and that He is "The Healer of all flesh"2 that makes the treatment by a human physician successful. It is therefore necessary to keep wide open the channels through which a Jew receives G-d's blessings, namely learning Torah and doing Mitzvoth, where there is always room for advancement.
Wishing you a Kesivo vaChasimo Tovo for a good and sweet year,
With blessing,
