By the Grace of G-d 3rd of Iyar, 5725 Brooklyn, N.Y.
Mrs. M. . . .
Philadelphia, Pa.
Blessing and Greeting:
I received your letter of April 20th, as well as the previous one, with the enclosures.
I believe that I have written to you before, that the stronger one's faith in G-d, the sooner one sees His blessings. Of course, there is no need to emphasize that you deserve a great deal of sympathy, in the various matters about which you write. However, one cannot question G-d's ways, and the only way to face any trial in life is with absolute trust in G-d, whose benevolent Providence extends to everyone individually, and whose goodness becomes evident sooner or later. And as mentioned before, the stronger this trust, the sooner and the greater is His blessing.
We are now in the auspicious time between Pesach, the Festival of Our Liberation, and Shovuoth, the Festival of Our Receiving the Torah, Both are linked together, since freedom in material aspects of life depends upon true freedom in the spiritual aspect. Thus, every additional effort in matters of Torah and Mitzvoth in the daily life and conduct, in addition to being a must for its own sake, opens wider the channels to receive G-d's blessings in all one's needs, materially and spiritually.
Receipt is enclosed for your Tzedoko, and may it stand you in good stead.
With blessing
By (secretary)
P.S. The dispatch letter was delayed. In the meantime your letter of May 6th was received, in which you write about a personal appointment.
As I have written to you before,1 I cannot see what useful purpose a personal meeting would serve, that would warrant your trouble, time and expense, to come here, especially as there is a long waiting list. It would also be unfair to displace a previous appointment. Above all, what I have to say to you, I have already said in writing. I trust you will understand, and excuse this unavoidable postponement.
