See Igros Kodesh, vol. 2, letter 178, where the Rebbe thanks S.Y.L. Eliezrov, the then Menahel of Colel Chabad, for fulfilling this request (parenthetically the Rebbe mentions that he still could not find out the exact date of the passing of his father. See also telegram dated June 27, 1945).
1) 20 August 1944. (In Igros Kodesh this telegram is dated 10 Elul, 5704 (August 29, 1944), and it seems to be a mistake).
2) Since its inception by the Alter Rebbe in 1788, Colel Chabad has offered a service to recite Kaddish for those who have departed.
