By the Grace of G-d17th of Shevat, 5740Brooklyn, N. Y.
Greeting and Blessing:
I appreciate very much your good wishes and sentiments on the occasion of the 30th anniversary, the Yahrzeit-Hilulo of my father-in-law of saintly memory.
And recalling his total dedication to the spreading and strengthening of Yiddishkeit, Torah and Mitzvoth, and how much he urged everyone to be involved in this vital activity, assuring us of his personal intercession and blessing for Hatzlocho, everyone of us will surely redouble our efforts in this direction.
I heartily reciprocate your good wishes, and in accordance with the saying of our Sages that one who blesses others is blessed by G-d Himself, may you and all yours be blessed "from His full, open, holy and ample Hand" materially and spiritually.
With blessing,
P.S.1 Needless to say, I noted with interest your remarks about the world situation the danger of war, etc., etc. My reply to this is already contained in the above. To be more explicit: The Creator and Master of the world is surely the greatest (more correctly, the only) expert who can tell us how people should behave in the world He created, in order to save it from all ills and perils. And this is what He has done, and in clear and plain terms - in His Torah through His Prophets, and in many other of our sacred sources. This conduct calls for - in the case of Jews - the observance of the Mitzvos in the everyday life; and - for gentiles - to keep the Divine moral laws pertaining to them. If a human being does not understand the reasons of his Creator - it is natural and to be expected, but it has no bearing on the results.
