Greeting and Blessing:
Thank you very much for your letter. And today we also received the cassette copies of Kitzur Shulchan Aruch in Hebrew and set in English, of the portion of the month of Elul, as per your letter. Many thanks.
With regard to the accompanying announcement that the cassettes may be used during weekdays only, and not on Shabbos and Yom Tov and your suggestion that this would receive even greater response if it came from us, since you organization is not viewed as an authority on Jewish Law —
Permit me to point out that it is not really a question of being an authority on Jewish Law, since no greater authority is required than the Kitzur Shulchan Aruch itself that is recorded in the cassettes.
Thus, the said guidance is not an exclusively religious issue, but also a moral and ethical one. For, surely it would only be right and proper, when sending anyone anything, to provide instructions for its proper use, especially when it would otherwise result in an obvious incongruity and more.
The same applies of course, also to cassettes on Chumash, where the commandment to keep Shabbos holy is repeated many times and it would be a breach of this commandment to play the cassette on Shabbos and Yom Tov.
I trust you will readily agree with the above perception.
I take this opportunity to reiterate to you and all your associates prayerful wishes for a good and sweet year, both materially and spiritually.
With esteem and blessing,
P.S. Because of the time element, this letter is being sent via special delivery.
