By the Grace of G-d 11th of Nissan, 5740 March 28, 1980 Brooklyn, N. Y.
His Excellency Hugh L. Carey
Governor of the State of New York
Executive Chamber
Albany, N. Y. 12224
Greeting and Blessing:
This is to convey to you, in behalf of our Chabad Lubavitch movement, as well as in my personal name, our sincerest appreciation of your very kind Proclamation designating the period of March 28 April 28 (11th of Nissan - 12th of Iyar), 1980 as "New York Education Month."
This action is especially welcome and encouraging in view of the fact that the Empire State has been host to the World Headquarters of our movement since 1940, where it has been flourishing ever since, and from which it spread out over many states of the Union from coast to coast.
But more than a tribute to our movement and its dedicated work, your action is an eminent public service to the cause of Education in general. In the present uneasy days, when the need for upgrading Education on all levels is of such paramount importance, the citizens of our Great State will be reassured in their knowledge that we have in you such a staunch advocate for the cause of Education.
With warm personal regards and with blessing,
Cordially,
