Blessing and Greeting:
Your letter with enclosures regarding your son reached me with some delay.
In general when there is a difference of opinion among medical experts it is advisable to discuss the matter with an educator or child psychologist who is a family friend even though not the greatest expert in the field. For being a friend he would have the patience to discuss the situation with you at length, evaluate carefully the options of the experts and make a judgment as to which should be followed. He could also advise as to whether the case is more pertinent to a child psychologist or a child educator.
At any rate in my opinion, the idea of placing him in public school does not come into consideration at all. It would only create a constant conflict between his parental heritage and the public school atmosphere compounded by a minority complex of spending a large part of the day among a majority of non Jewish children. And although such traumatic effects may not be immediately discerned in a young child, it is impossible to know what effects they may have subconsciously. All this is even more important for a child who, as you write, is “extremely sensitive."
May G-d grant – since every Jew is one of God's children as the Torah declares and to Whom every Jewish child is particularly precious – that you and your husband should bring him up together with your other children, to a life of Torah, chuppah and ma'asim tovim. In good health, and you should have good news to report in this as well as in regard to parnoso.
With blessing,
