Greeting and Blessing:

This is to acknowledge receipt of your letter of Jan. 6th. I have also just received the good news from Rabbi Shmuel M. Butman that the tests proved negative. May G-d grant that your daughter in law should have a complete and speedy recovery, and henceforth there should be only good and healthy things to talk about.

I duly remembered your daughter in law in prayer when visiting the holy resting place of my father-in-law of saintly memory, whose Yahrzeit takes place on the 10th of this month. No doubt you know the story of his life and work. Perhaps you also heard that on arriving in the United States, he declared that he does not wish to have a copyright for his activities; on the contrary, that he would be very happy that others would emulate him in the spreading of Torah and true Yiddishkeit, especially in this country where this activity can be carried on without hindrance and without fear, but, indeed, with help and encouragement.

I will conclude therefore with the confident hope that you should not rest content with your own accomplishments in all above, but will use your fullest influence in this direction. Especially after I had the pleasure of meeting and talking with you, when it was also mentioned that our Torah is called Toras Emes, and its Mitzvoth are similarly Emes, meaning that the Torah and Mitzvoth cannot have any compromise, inasmuch as if the truth is compromised to any degree, it is no longer the truth. To quote the Torah itself, "You shall not turn aside either to the right or to the left."

P.S. With reference to your desire for an appointment to see me, it would certainly be a pleasure. Unfortunately the appointments calendar is fully booked until after Pesach, and it would not be right to displace a previous appointment for which a person has been waiting unavoidably too long.
