By the Grace of G-d 27th of Sivan, 5730 Brooklyn, N.Y.
Salford M7 OHL, England
Greeting and Blessing:
This is to acknowledge receipt of your letter which reached me with some delay.
Noting your dedicated interest and efforts in behalf of Jewish education in your community, I am confident you are doing your utmost to ensure that the children are getting a Torah-true chinuch, and that the knowledge they acquire is in full accord with the definition of Torah learning by our Sages, namely the kind of study that leads to action, the practice of the mitzvos in the daily life and conduct.
In our present day and age of confusion and perplexity, we have seen that only a complete, undiluted Yiddishkeit finds the right response, and offers a true challenge to our Jewish youth, for they are not interested in half truths and compromises.
Since this cause is of such vital importance and of concern to the many, every effort is worth-while to provide the children with the utmost measure of this chinuch, so that they will be imbued with the light and warmth of the Torah not only for their own benefit, but also as a source of inspiration and influence in the community at large.
Apropos of the above, I am enclosing a copy of my Lag b’Omer message1, which is of special interest to Talmud Torah students, and also contains a timely and practical message of strengthening mutual respect, harmony and unity.
In connection with the 90th anniversary, I send my prayerful wishes to you and all the communal workers to whom credit is due for their efforts in behalf of Torah-true chinuch in your community. May the Chinuch Al Taharas Hakodesh in your community advance from strength to strength.
With blessing,
