Blessing and Greeting:
I have looked over the drawings, which have generally met with my approval for publication in the Challenge.
Now that this item has also been confirmed, I trust that the Challenge will appear without further delay.
With regard to two drawings, as indicated, I could not quite see the connection between them and their respective articles.
All the drawings have now been returned to the office for sending them back to you.
Hoping to hear good news from you,
With blessing
M. Schneerson
Notes and sources
In the summer of 5727 (1967), the Rebbe gave his consent and blessing to Mr. & Mrs. BenZion Rader to compile and edit a book entitled Challenge: An Encounter with Lubavitch-Chabad, which would contain a brief history of the Chabad branch of Chassidus, an indication of its growth and achievements worldwide, and an elementary introduction to its unique philosophy.
The Rebbe asked that the book be amply illustrated, because "people today find little time for reading but like to look at pictures", and that the book should be written "in popular style." During the two and a half years of its compilation, each section of the text was sent to the Rebbe, who personally edited its suitability and content. During that same period the Rebbe, by letter and messages, urged that the book be completed.
