By the Grace of G-dErev-Shabbos-Kodesh Parshas Bo, 5727Brooklyn N.Y.
To All Participants in the
Twenty-seventh Annual Dinner of the
United Lubavitcher Yeshivoth,
Greeting and Blessing:
I extend herewith my greetings and blessing to the esteemed friends, honored guests, and all participants in the Annual Dinner of the United Lubavitcher Yeshivoth Tomchei-Tmimim.
This year’s Annual Dinner was arranged to take place on the first day of a special week, a week which is of particular significance for the Lubavitcher institutions, hence also for all their friends and supporters. It is the week of the Yahrzeit of my saintly father-in-law of blessed memory, the founder of the Lubavitcher Yeshivoth in America.
The significance of a Yahrzeit is the renewal and strengthening of the attachment to the soul of the departed, through the identity of purpose and deed in the realm of goodness and holiness which constituted the essential aspects of the soul of the departed during his sojourn upon this earth. Such a meaningful Yahrzeit observance brings true gratification to the soul of the departed. At the same time, the inspiration induced by this renewed spiritual attachment, and the resulting good deeds, bestow a great and lasting Zechus upon those who observe the Yahrzeit in the said manner.
The place which the Lubavitcher Yeshivoth occupied in the life of my saintly father-in-law is well known, as also his selfless dedication to ensure their existence and development. It is therefore of the utmost gratification to his soul to see his sacred institutions being given the ability to fulfill their purpose to the maximum degree. And the purpose is twofold: quantitatively — increasing the absorptive capacity to enroll a growing number of students, and qualitatively — broadening and deepening their education in the spirit of the Torah with true piety and dedication.
Each additional student enrolled in the Lubavitcher Yeshivoth is not only a gain for the student himself, but also a gain for posterity, since with him a new generation is born, and, eventually, one more Torah-true Jewish home is established. In addition, there is the specific quality of the Lubavitcher system of education — the implanting into the student a profound sense of responsibility and selflessness in behalf of a fellow-Jew, in the true spirit of the Great Principle of the Torah — “Thou shalt love thy fellow as thyself", which is the guiding light in their daily life.
I trust that each and every one of the participants in the Annual Dinner will make a special effort to help make this year’s event a deserving success in every respect.
The Zechus of the founder of the Yeshivoth, whose approaching Yahrzeit reflects special significance upon the present occasion, will surely stand each and every one of you in good stead, to be blessed by Our Father in Heaven, out of His full, open, holy and generous Hand in fulfillment of your needs, materially and spiritually.
With esteem and with blessing for much Hatzlocho and good tidings,
/Signed/ Menachem Schneerson
