By the Grace of G-d 3rd of Sivan, 5725 Brooklyn, N. Y.
Greeting and blessing:
After not hearing from you for a long time, I received your letter of the 22nd of Iyar, in which you write about your Torah studies. Your letter came at a very opportune time, just before the Yom Tov Shovuos, the Festival of Mattan Torah.
And you surely know that our Sages said that G-d gave the Torah to all our Jewish people only after the children were made as a guarantee that the Torah would be studied and its Mitzvoth would be observed at all times and everywhere.1 Obviously in order to live up to this guarantee, it is necessary to have the fullest cooperation of the children, with the parents. I trust that you, on your part, will be most cooperative.
Moreover, since you are a member of Tzeirei Agudas Chabad, I hope you will also use your good influence with your friends, so that they too give the fullest cooperation in all matters of Torah and Mitzvoth. In this way everyone will also deserve the blessings, both materially and spiritually, that go with the study and observance of the Torah and Mitzvoth.
Wishing you and all your friends a joyous and inspiring Festival of Kabbolas HaTorah, and may the inspiration and joy be with you throughout the year
With blessing
By Nissan Mindel
