By the Grace of G-d 21st of Adar, 5724 Brooklyn, N.Y.
Greeting and Blessing:
This is in reply to your note in which you write about your desire to spend some time at the Lubavitcher Yeshiva in Brooklyn.
Generally speaking, in a matter such as this, the first thing is to communicate with the Yeshiva administration, in order to find out whether there is a suitable class for you, etc. At any rate, even if everything is as it should be, I do not think it is the proper time to come to a Yeshiva at the end of the year, when the summer vacation is about to begin. For, although the Yeshiva is open all year round and there is no complete cessation of studies there, nevertheless, the summer program is not the same as all the year round and it is hardly suitable for a new student to arrive at the Yeshiva at such a time.
On the other hand, it may well be worthwhile considering joining the Lubavitcher Yeshiva at Brunoy even at this time, inasmuch as it is not far from your home, and the vacation time there is also much shorter, etc.
I trust that you are learning the Torah with devotion and diligence, even during this transition period, and keeping up with the program which you followed in Kfar Chabad. Of course, it is much easier to keep up such a program within the Yeshiva atmosphere. But, wherever one is at any time, one is never exempt from the study of the Torah. On the contrary, whatever distractions there may be, should be considered as a challenge to overcome, and we have been promised, “He who is determined to purify himself (and others) receives help from on High.”1
With blessing,
By Nissan Mindel
