By the Grace of G-d 29th of Nissan, 5723 Brooklyn, N.Y.
To all Participants in the
Capital Fund Campaign Dinner of
Camp Gan Israel
Montreal, Canada
Greeting and Blessing:
I was pleased to be informed that your dinner will take place on the 4th of Iyar (April 28th), and I hope and pray that it will be successful in every respect.
Camp Gan Israel is named after Rabbi Israel Baal Shem Tov, who brought a revival of the Jewish spirit and way of life, ever since he illuminated the Jewish horizon more than 200 years ago. The exponent of his teachings, and his spiritual successor, was the Old Rebbe, author of the Tanya and Shulchan Aruch, whose 150th Yahrzeit Anniversary we are observing this year. Like the Baal Shem Tov, the Old Rebbe, too, dedicated himself to the cause of the Jewish children, even before he assumed leadership of the great movement, which to this day stimulates and vitalizes Jewish life everywhere, especially in the field of Torah-true Jewish education.
The moving spirit of Camp Gan Israel is the great principle of three great loves; love of G-d, love of the Torah, and love of fellow Jew, which are the foundation of the teachings of the Baal Shem Tov and the Old Rebbe. The administrators, counselors, and instructors are imbued with this spirit. Thus, Camp Gan Israel provides a unique experience and lasting inspiration for the children. It is, therefore, deserving the utmost support of the community, and of everyone who has the interests of our children at heart.
May this dinner serve as an occasion of true inspiration to all participants and their friends, to provide the Camp with adequate resources not only to maintain its present level of activities, but also to expand them to meet the urgent call of the hour.
With prayerful wishes to each and every one of you to be blessed from G-d with true Yiddish Nachas from your children, in good health and affluence, materially and spiritually.
With blessing,
M. Schneerson
