By the Grace of G-d 7th of Tammuz, 5719 Brooklyn, N.Y.

Sholom U’Brocho:

I am in receipt of your letter which you sent through .... I trust my previous letter to you, sent to your home address has been forwarded to you.

With regard to the change of your position at the camp from Junior Counsellor to Administration Assistant, which you seem to regret, it may well be a change for the better, for instead of being limited to a small group, you will now come in contact with the campers and counsellors at large. Moreover, in your present capacity you will have other opportunities such as exerting special care in regard to food, etc. You have already accomplished an Eiruv, which might not have been possible were your duties confined to one bunk. I see from your letter a further opportunity – with the permission of your director – to influence the staff, via discussion, study periods, and the like. I only hope that you will offer them there things not in the capacity of being their superior in rank but on the merits of these things themselves, as we discussed during our conversation.

All in all, it seems to me that in your present capacity you have much greater opportunities and if you use the right approach, you will surely succeed with G-d’s help.

As requested, this letter is being sent to you ahead of its turn. As we are in proximity to the historic dates of the 12-13 Tammuz marking the liberation of my father-in-law of saintly memory from Soviet imprisonment, may the remembrance of those events inspire you and everyone with the spirit of devotion and self-sacrifice for the dissemination of Torah and Mitzvoth, in the pleasant ways of the Torah, for "its ways are ways of pleasantness and all its paths are peace."¹ Such activity, with such approach, which promises the utmost success, will stand you in good stead to be liberated, too, from all external and internal difficulties.

Hoping to hear good news from you,

With blessing,

By
