I received your letter of November 5th, and I was very pleased to read in it that the surgery on your wife1 was successful. I hope that you will both be very pleased with the results, and inasmuch as you started the New Year in an auspicious way, may good fortune be yours throughout the year, and that you always have good news to report.
With blessing:

Notes and sources
Mr. Shneur Zalmon Jaffe (5673–5760 / 1913–2000), was a Lubavitch businessman and activist in Manchester, England, who merited a very close and unique personal relationship with the Rebbe. For further biographical information, and over 200 letters he received from the Rebbe, see 20 Iyar, 5713.
1) In a serious car accident the previous year (see the Rebbe’s letters to Jaffe dated 14 Sivan, 5718 and 15 Sivan, 5718), Mrs. Jaffe suffered a deep facial injury from the windscreen and subsequently underwent plastic surgery to reduce its visible impact.
2) See also letter from the Rebbe's Secretariat dated 15 Marcheshvan, 5719. Mr. and Mrs. Jaffe’s first visit to the Rebbe took place in Shevat 5719 (January 1959). They traveled from England aboard the Queen Mary, arriving in New York on Tuesday, 9 Shevat. The Rebbe had requested their arrival details in advance to ensure they were welcomed properly. During their stay in Crown Heights, the Jaffes participated in a farbrengen, had two private yechidus with the Rebbe, and were deeply moved by the personal warmth and spiritual depth they experienced. Zalmon Jaffe’s diary of this visit can be accessed at chabad.org/265011.
