Mr. Shneur Zalmon Jaffe (5673–5760 / 1913–2000), was a Lubavitch businessman in Manchester, England, who merited a very close and unique personal relationship with the Rebbe. For further biographical information, and over 200 letters he received from the Rebbe, see 20 Iyar, 5713.
Mr. and Mrs. Jaffe’s first visit to the Rebbe took place in Shevat 5719 (January 1959). They traveled from England aboard the Queen Mary, arriving in New York on Tuesday, 9 Shevat. The Rebbe had asked for their arrival details in advance, ensuring they were welcomed properly. During their stay in Crown Heights, the Jaffes participated in a farbrengen, met with the Rebbe twice in yechidus, and were deeply moved by the personal warmth and spiritual depth they encountered.
